CapSource
CapSource is a start-up connecting universities, students, and industry partners through custom experiential learning engagements. I worked at CapSource as a UX/UI designer for a year and a half. After becoming a more product-centric company, my overall objective at CapSource was to design a web application, where students, companies, and industry partners could organize and manage their internships, projects, and applications.

Overview
The Problem
The overall task for this project was to build a web application that allows an industry partner to intuitively and effectively build a robust intern application process. I designed two versions of the product: an MVP (a usable and functional version of the dashboard that allows for speedy development) as well as a desired state version (which takes into consideration overall aesthetic and new functionality).
Design System
Before starting on this project, I built out an entire CapSource design system on Figma to promote consistency throughout the website and the new user dashboard, as well as to create a streamlined and brand-consistent template for developers.
Legacy Version
The legacy version of the dashboard interface (left image) resided within the marketing website, and all actionable items were reached through the navigation bar at the top of the page. In this version, the dashboard was not visually distinct from the rest of website. The right image shows the legacy version of the internship builder interface. The form fields guiding the internship building process were presented in an unengaging textual list format.
MVP Wireframes
My task was to design a distinct, engaging product in the form of a web application that industry partners could easily and intuitively navigate to build a more robust internship program and application process. The MVP needed to preserve and relocate the existing functionality of the current dashboard and establish an improved navigation that could be quickly implemented. The left navigation bar (shown below) now clearly organizes and presents all aspects of the company's engagement. In addition, the user profile information has been moved to the upper right corner, saving the central visual space for the most important dashboard information.
Desired State
The desired state version of the dashboard shows a more appealing presentation of the MVP incorporating graphics that illustrate the relevant categories.
Project Details
This version also includes a redesigned internship building form that presents questions sequentially and results in a more thorough internship application. Below is an example of one of the questions asked in the internship builder, with a full overview of the steps on the left.
